There are many reasons why the traditional marketing strategies are not effective anymore. The first

reason is that students today have many different ways of consuming content and they are getting used to

it. They cannot be reached by just one channel anymore. 

So, what should we do? We should start thinking about how we can interact with the students in a new

way and how we can create value for them in order to attract them as future customers of our institution.

There is when digital marketing takes place and makes about traditional marketing a huge mistake

because it is not relevant to students anymore. Besides, it is not an efficient way to reach them and it

could be expensive.

Digital marketing, on the other hand, is a much better strategy because it is more affordable, personal,

targeted to potential students and they will get to you through what they use every day such as social

media or websites.

Social media has been around for about fifteen years now, but it only became popular in the last few

years.  When more people started using social media on a daily basis. They realized that this is not just

something that their friends or family use to share pictures of their dinner or what they are doing on

vacation; it was also a tool that could be used for marketing purposes.

Then, this communication method became one of the most used source of information, the most popular

and fastest way to disseminate facts and an effective platform for spreading messages, especially after

pandemic. Think about it: What did you use during the Covid pandemic to search for information or to

communicate with your family, friends or customers? 

The way people use social media has changed significantly over time – from using it primarily as a platform

for personal expression, entertainment and news consumption, to using it as an organizational tool for

attracting, capturing leads and sales purposes. Thus, the key to make social media successful is to show

authenticity, share value content for your audience, communicate authority, get attention of your

customers, build awareness and of course, provide support to your audience.

Students are turning to social media, websites and apps, so the best way to keep your students engaged

and update of your product and services is to provide the information through the right tools and

resources.

Social media has evolved so much in the past year and this network is constantly changing and evolving,

so it is important that your business stays up-to-date on what is trending now. The following are some of

the most popular platforms that you should be using for your institution in order to get those potential

students which are using at least one of them almost constantly: YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat

and Facebook. 

Finally, these platforms have been the most important tools for businesses and for any modern marketing

strategy. They are used to reach and connect with customers, advertise products and services, generate

sales, and grow your business by providing a direct line of communication with your target. 

In conclusion, do not be old school. Make online channel an essential piece of your business marketing 

strategy.  Nowadays, any business must have a social media presence in order to stay relevant in today’s

competitive market. Take action, create a profile, and start engaging with your customers with value

content, show them what your institution has and why they should be part of it.
